MONTELEONE
DI ORVIETOMonteleone di Orvieto, is located at about 500 meters above sea level, on the mountains that divide the territory of Orvieto from the territory of Cittą della Pieve; it is set over a rocky headland that for three sides overhangs the Chiani valley. Due to these natural characteristics, round the 10th century, Orvieto choose the area to build a stronghold to defend his northern border. Built with red bricks, Monteleone keeps untouched the middle age plant and structure of a fortified village. |

| In the village, among other, the following events take place: | at Christmas "il Presepe Vivente" ("the Living Crib") that involve the whole village community in the reconstruction of the 2000 years ago Bethlem: in the night between December 24th and 25th Monteleone turns out in a Galilean village with workshops of handcrafters such as weavers, goldsmiths, with inns and soldiers, with the market and, of course, the Nativity. | ||
| in August la "Rimpatriata" which involve the whole village in feasts and celebrations; a historical procession with final challenge among the two quarters take place on August 16th; | |||
